Choosing the Best Shampoo for Dry Hair

Choosing the Best Shampoo for Dry Damaged Hair:

Everyone wants to have beautiful, lustrous, healthy hair. People who are lucky enough to be born with healthy, shiny hair don’t have to do much to care for their hair. On the other hand, if you have problem hair like you have dry dull hair, then it’s a concern. You need to choose carefully what products you use for your hair care.

There are gazillion products available in the market for dry damaged hair. But they do not always give the results which they actually boast.  So there are a few things that you should keep in mind before buying the right product for your hair. In this article, I will only talk about the right kind of shampoo and conditioner you need to have for your dry and damaged hair.

Before buying any shampoo or conditioner you need to keep the following things in mind;

  • What type of hair you have?

First, you need to distinguish your hair type. People have;

Curly Hair:

Wavy Hair

Frizzy Hair

Straight Hair

Fine Hair

Thick Hair

Color Treated Hair

Once you have figured it out that what type of hair you have; it will be easy for you to find the right kind of shampoo for your hair type. All the shampoo come with complete description, so do read it carefully before buying it.

Dry, damaged hair needs a shampoo that gives moisturization and hydration. This will also help with the flyaway issue of your hair. Look for shampoos with intensive moisture replenishment. Use a specific shampoo that is for color or chemical treated hair.

Once you have found the right type of shampoo for your hair, try different brands so that you find the one brand of your choice. But don’t stick to one brand for long. Change your shampoo after six months or a year.

As we are talking only about dry hair so look for ingredients like natural oils as they are absorbed by the hair.

  • Using Conditioner:

Some people don’t use conditioners. They think that it weakens their hair. There are lots of misconceptions about using conditioners. Generally, people only shampoo their hair. Conditioners really help you if you have dry hair. They not only condition it but they calm down the strands. Help hair detangles easily. Conditioners keep hairs hydrated and leave them feeling silky soft to touch. They also make hair manageable thus making styling very easy. A leave-in conditioner helps hydrate the overly processed hair which is dry and brittle. Be careful not to over condition your hair as this might make it look flat and life less.

  • How often you need to wash your hair?

Daily shampooing dry hair is not a very healthy way. It rips off all the natural oils of your hair, leaving the hair dull and dehydrated. For dry hair washing your hair twice a week is fine.  How you wash your hair also matters a lot. The technique of washing hair is that you should take out some shampoo in your hand and gently massage it on your hair starting from the crown area. Do not rub them vigorously as it will further damage your hair and cause frizz. Focus massaging conditioner on the final 3-4 inches of your hair .The hair near the scalp gets plenty of natural oils but hair farther away from your scalp tends to dry out.

I hope these tips will help you buy the best shampoo for your hair type.
